The New Zealand Greenlipped Mussel lives in one of the purest oceans in the world. This particular mussel contains a number of components which have proved effective for skin, tissue, cartilage and synovial fluids.
The unique quality of the New Zealand greenlipped mussels is their high content of amino sugars which are of an unusual high nutritional value. Biochemists call these amino sugars Glucasominoglycane (abbr. GAG).
The cultivation of these mussels has taken place since the 1960'es, and is done so that it does negatively affect the eco-system in the area. Per annum a quantity of appr. 60,000 tons are cultivated in Marlborough Bay, Coromandel og Big Glory Bay.
The nutritients from the mussels are entirely derived from the flesh, so the extract we use do not contains any residues from the shells.
